About learning English

Imagen
Hello everyone! In this post I’m going to talk about my experience learning english at university and some other things. My first experience learning English in college was in science faculty when I was pursuing another degree. These courses were very similar to the English classes at school, we worked with a book that we had to complete throughout the semester and it was very focused on English gramar, a bit with a dynamic of learning by repetition. Since the course was designed for “hard science” careers, it was much more focused on a scientific language. The teacher who made these subjects (there were two, English 1 and 2) is an excellent teacher and she taught us things about pronunciation and how certain words were understood depending on the context. Regarding my current experience, I have liked much more this dynamic in wich we learn English by “doing”, that is, listening to the teachers speak in English and giving instructions in the language, having to speak English and also...

About psychology in FACSO

Hello everyone! In this post I’m going to talk about some thinghs that I think that could change in my study programme and in the faculty where I study. Although it seems to me that the first year manages to make an introduction to the world of social sciences, I found it difficult to link the contents to psychology in some courses until much later in the career. In that sense, I think that in the first semesters there could be subjetcs that introduce the world of psychology that, in addition to allowing an entrance to the subject that gives meaning to the other courses from the beginning, teaches us things that are often assumed that we know but not really. In these subjects, certain basic notions could be explained that allow us to give an idea of general concepts, important names to know and that tell us a little about the many areas of application of the career (since we learn more about this in the third year and it could be earlier). It seems to me that the degree could last on...

About postgraduate studies

Hello everyone! In this post I'm going to talk about postgraduate studies. One of the things I like the most is learning and I love that there are always new things to know. For this reason I would like to continue studying after finishing my degree. I would like to deepen my studies in psychology, learning more about specializations such as educational psychology and clinical psychology. In addition to that, I would very much like to do courses that have to do with pedagogy and the development and learning processes. I have also thought about the possibility of finishing my career as a math and physics teacher. I really like everything that has to do with the educational area and I am very interested in learning about pedagogical topics. I have not thought if I would prefer to study here in Chile or in some other country, I think that decision would be more dependent on what I want to learn and how I want to learn it. If there is a course that interests me, I would seek to be abl...

My future job

Imagen
Hello everyone! In this post I’m going to talk about my future job (or at least the one that I would like to have). I have been interested in the world of pedagogy and education for a long time. At the same time, I am fascinated by everything related to psychology. This is why my dream job is one that can combine these two aspects and I think that what best suits this is working in a school as a psychologist. I imagine that in this job I will interact with students, their families and teachers, that in it I will be able to contribute to the well-being of students and to generate educational practices that promote a complete and friendly learning Beyond this job, in general I think I would like to work indoors, but not in an office, I like to be in contact with other people. I would not like a job where you have to travel a lot because I like to separate things: on the one hand, having a fixed space to develop my work and, on the other, what has to do with traveling and knowing other pl...

About films

Imagen
Hello everyone!  In this post I'm going to talk about films. I am very impressed by the quantity and variety of films that exist. I think the film industry has come a long way and in that process it has diversified enormously. I find it very interesting how cinema transmits a lot of things and how it can transport us to different worlds, in addition to making us reflect on many issues. I also like about the cinema the fact that there are movies for all tastes and moods. I'm not a fan of a specific film genre, but I especially like films that have such an unexpected ending that it seems that it is necessary to see the film again to be able to understand it jajaja. I don't watch horror or suspense movies because they make me too nervous.  A film that seems remarkable to me is City of Angels. I think it is a film that portrays a love that is too deep and has an ending that leaves you reflecting a lot. I've seen it twice and cried too much both times. In broad strokes (and ...

Some things about the pandemic

Hello everyone, In this post I’m going to talk about things related to the pandemic. In general, my family has been very respectful of the quarantine and we have gone out as little as possible. With my sister and my mother (who are the ones I live with) we have tried to take care of ourselves by following health protocols. I have seen my father rarely in the last year and when it has been possible we get together with all the necessary measures. With my family, we are in contact through calls or virtual meetings, we also communicate by whatsapp. I think that in some way, this situation has forced us to rethink how we live our lives. In that sense, I think we have learned to value more the situations that we considered quotidian and that we never thought would be the way they are now. I also believe that the pandemic has made the great inequalities in our country even more visible. I have the illusion that our society will improve after this if we take care not to forget that things nee...

The best concert I've had

Imagen
Hello everyone! The best concert I have ever been to was the Frontera Festival in 2018, a festival in which numerous bands and artists perform. I was invited by one of my best friends, we were all afternoon listening to the groups and singers. What I liked the most was that my two favorite artists performed: Francisca Valenzuela and Miranda.  Fran Valenzuela is a chilean singer and songwriter and Miranda is an argentine band. I love the music of both artists.  The atmosphere was very cool, there were many people in front of the different scenarios and also in the park fields. It was a very good experience and it was great to see various artists (I heard several of them for the first time). I was able to sing, jump and dance to the rhythm of my favorite artists and with a very good company. One of the things that I remember is how much my friend laughed because she had never seen me so excited. Before Miranda's concert, she recorded a video in which I say how excited I am jumpi...
